The Magic of China
Mark Wilson was the first magician from the west to appear (or disappear as the case may be) in China in 1980, since the founding of the People's Republic in 1949. With his wife, Nani, son Greg, and a troupe of 20, plus four tons of magical equipment, Wilson performed his magic on the Great Wall; the tomb of Sun Yat-sen, open air bazaars, a modern commune, even on a steam-driven train. The Chinese loved their magic. But, in a deeper sense, Mark and his family discovered that China possesses a magic all its own.
The Children of China
Master magician Mark Wilson and his family demonstrated their ability to captivate children anywhere in the world during their 1980 trip to China.
The Chinese children loved these shows and responded with performances of their own – singing and playing native songs, acrobatic displays and even an enactment of an ancient Mandarin drama. Sometimes it’s difficult to decide who is entertaining who.
There are twice as many children in China as there are people in the United States. They are China’s future. To understand our differences we must start with children, for they are the same the world over.
